The “feared” Kapai Lake in the Municipality of Kapai, Lanao del Sur is not that threatening. Based on the mid-air survey recently conducted, the lake looks calm and “friendly.”

According to the 2000 census results, Kapai has more than 16,564 residents inhabiting over 2,270 households. The municipality is politically subdivided into 20 barangays. A close interview with the original folks in the area revealed that the lake had already been in existence for years. In all their lives, they never develop a single thought that the lake could be frightening.
Geographically, the town of Kapai is adjacent to the Province of Bukidnun. Based on this plot, many are speculating that in the event the lake will overflow, people in Bukidnun, Iligan City and a portion of Lanao del Sur Province will be affected.

People supposed that due to the occurrence of Tropical Storm Sendong, Kapai Lake was then filled with logs; and so, by the time it will rain harder, those logs shall damage the surrounding area, particularly the above-mentioned places. Some are even claiming that once the lake’s water volume will increase on account of bad weather, the spill-over shall be more than enough to cover the town of Iligan. To my mind, these are all mere conjectures, hearsays and baseless assumptions.
Prayer is the real sword! |
Remember, not even the country’s Department of Environment and Natural Resources have issued any statement about this matter. The department is not even alarmed. It is fair to conclude, therefore, that until there is an official declaration from the authorities and proper offices, there is no cogent reason to spread the rumor that Kapai Lake is dangerous.
Needless to state however, everyone must be cautious and rationally sensitive. What people can do this challenging time, just as always, is to live in faith, pray and trust in the power of the Sovereign Almighty.
Hello my dear, great job! Nice to see you here and welcome to the community. Enjoy and share more. But, did you know what I have noticed? Our templates, yeah... are exactly the same. Well, anyway, happy blogging and have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHi The Author. Thanks! That's nice to hear. About the template, I am still exploring other options here so I can make something better on my page. Have a nice day!
DeleteAccording to some sources the surrounding environs of the Kapai Lake had been used as a logging area disguised as an oil exploration. The veracity of this information is still not confirmed. Nonetheless, once the surrounding environs are destroyed by greedy loggers, the Kapai Lake poses an imminent threat to its neighboring communities. It's destructive force will swoop down lower surrounding areas and will wreck havoc more than the what typhoon Sendong did. It is now time to preserve the environment, particularly our remaining forest cover.Plant and not cut! Let Us be proactive in saving our planet! Saving our planet means saving our lives.
ReplyDeleteThat's true, Angelo. There are firms these days that are disguising themselves as job/opportunity providers but, in truth and in fact they are the very destroyers of our natural resources. To mention a few, there are logging groups (appearing to be legal) and mining companies (large or small scale) operating in the different parts of the country. So sad to think about...
DeleteAng mga Ilegal Loggers diha sa mga kabukiran mao ang angay basulon ning nahitabo sa syudad sa Iligan og sa Cagayan. Mao ni sila ang naghatag og kahasul ka nmu dri sa Iligan. ReplyDeleteHi Jinn! Grabe, patyon man jud daretso. Hehehe. "Di ba pwedeng lechonon sa hinay-hinay?" Anyway, you have a point. Everyone is hurting now, especially the typhoon victims just because of the selfish intent of some. These people doing "illegal" things have a major share of the blame.
